Review:   Well...they are at it again over in Irie region. As if it weren't good enough to have the hottest Reggae Club, Irie Vibes, and an old school disco, Soul Vibes, they've now added a new spot on the sandbox side of the island, called Urban Vibes Nightclub. The first set of block parties started there the last week of June and if the other venues are any measure, this one is bound to be a success as well. They've already had one party that was so packed, it almost crashed the sim! Urban Vibes is an open air, hip hop and rap music venue. The entrance is guarded by Barney the Bouncer. He's friendly but if you try to touch him, he'll quickly warn you to back up because he knows karate! You've been warned. No drawn weapons, nudity or child avatars permitted.

Structurally, the space that defines Urban Vibes is created from steel piping and cyclone fencing. About the only thing in the place is the DJ station which is elevated and has seven fire jets behind it. There's a reason for that – the place is for dancing and dancing only. No sitting allowed. Irie Tsure has built another fabulous dance floor. And its well stocked with new dances that reflect the energetic emphasis of the music at this new venue. At each corner of the floor there is a circular elevated platform for couples or someone who just wants to show off. The opening party was well attended by friends and well wishers and more than a few new faces. DJ Slidin Dreadlow provided the crowd with a wicked array of contemporary music. The music was pumping and the crowd rocked right along with it. You needed a group tag to activate the dance floor. That may change later, but at the moment its easy enough to get a tag. Any group or staff member can give you one. There were a few kinks in the dance floor that still need to be worked out but these were minor first night issues. Ms. Irie is one of the DJs and she knows what she's doing! All of you hip hop loving avatars need to put Urban Vibes on your list of “must visit” spots. Its bound to become a popular staple in SL.

Conclusion:  Hip Hop and Rap Block Party in Second Life.
