There are a lot of places to shop in Second Life and a great many things to shop for. Not all shops are created equal however and that is why we have devoted so much of Second Life Review to shopping. There are some really great places out there but there are also some really not so great places. Keep your eye on our Danger Keep out! page for warnings about the worst of the worst.

You will find a good mix of different kinds of places reviewed in this Shopping category. To help you find the place you are looking for in Second Life we give a star rating and a human opinion about each place. Some places will be awesome in every respect. Some will have their bad points and their good points. Some will be superb if you can put up with "----."

Some places may have changed since they were last reviewed. If you think things have changed enough at a location or find a closed or moved location please contact us with the details or even submit a new review. If you own a place we published a critical review of then you can ask us about a second chance review. If you have made changes to improve those things which were criticized or you show that the criticism was unfounded we will most likely grant the second chance.

There are a lot of opportunities out there for shoppers in Second Life if you know what to look for. Something I have seen at several locations is the "put the store in your picks" contest or payroll. The basic format: join the group, put the store in your picks and either be automatically entered to win L every week or just paid a regular fee for your advertising services. I think this is a fabulous alternative to camping or surveys. Another opportunity out there is for affiliate sales. If you have some land or want to start a store you can sign up with these places to sell their stuff at your place. The good ones cost nothing to start up and give a percent of their sales as commission. Set them up in your own spot, promote it, and watch the Lindens roll in from someone else’s product. What could be better than mixing a little shopping with a little earning!
