Review: There's no shortage of Caribbean music in SL. One venue holds
down a small corner of Rasta Beach and Resort Club. The actual dance area is part of a larger, beautifully designed sim owned by TributeTim Kwak.
The dance area is in the middle of a weathered wood deck, with a DJ booth in the rear, flanked by contest boards on either side. Mushroom-like
stool seating frames the dance area, and a tree trunk leans just at the edge of the floor. The crook between its weathered limb and the trunk
provides a spot where you can chill out, but still watch and hear all that is going on. A comfy couch closes the final side. Next to it is a can
of chill out pills. Eat two or three as you sit on the couch and you're guaranteed a smile, or so they say. The dance ball is planted on a pole
at the far edge of the floor. In addition, either the DJ or the club manager, Clementine Nishi, wears a chimera. Touch the chimera and do
whatever dance the avatar is doing. Exactly where you touch the chimera will be a surprise for you. The dance ball sets one dance, and the
chimera sets the other. Those are the two dance options unless you are on one of the four sets of couples pose balls or have your own dance
animation. If you like being in a group that is dancing in sync, you'll have plenty of fun here. Make sure they tell you how to stop the
animation or you'll be burst into random dancing until you teleport off the sim. The crowd is small, but they know how to party and they welcome
strangers warmly. Two notes of caution: just because the place is called Rasta Beach doesn't mean there's reggae, socca or dancehall all of
the time. The club has a small roster of Reggae DJs including Jahman Blessed and Naphtali Hawks. But, you are just as likely to hear other kinds
of music. If you are a reggae purist, get on the group list so that'll you'll know when to hit the beach. Finally, the larger resort is a
clothing optional beach. In several visits no nudity was observed but it is allowed. Not quite a four and better than a three, try this spot
anyway, its a cozy environment for reggae.
Conclusion: Lots of fun activities and good music.
