Review: Is there value to being listed in the Popular Places Tab in SL’s
Search feature? Residents disagree on this point, but, one venue really earned its spot: Irie Vibes Caribbean Reggae Music Nightclub. Open since
October 2006, it currently has over 5,000 members. Its success and longevity are a testament to the vision and management of owner, Irie Tsure,
also known as Ms. Irie. The club boasts a roster of 30+ DJs. No matter what flavor of reggae you like: dance hall, socca, carnival, dub or just
classic, you can find it there. The music is always pumping!
A teleport to Irie Island places you at an intersection. Shop for items with a Caribbean flavor, go to a small public sandbox, which is nicely
stocked with freebies and instructional boxes, or follow the red carpet to the main Dance Hall. The music will draw you towards an open area,
with freebies for Carnival and an event board listing upcoming activities. Descend onto the colorful and spacious dance floor where you’ll be
greeted immediately. Even at high peak times you can still find space to dance without being bumped, although you may experience some lag when
the floor is full. Dancing skills not up to par? Don’t worry about it, the floor offers twenty-four dance animations including a random selection
which changes with each new song. There are great areas built around the dance floor where you can chill in a comfortable poof chair or have some
private dance space. A second DJ booth is located at the pool and though it is only steps away from the main dance floor, the space has an
atmosphere all its own. A ship docked nearby, and a lovely beach also provides areas for visitors to enjoy and still be within earshot of the
music.
The crowd at Irie Vibes is high energy and friendly. High traffic occurs 7:00-10:00am PDT (when the UK folks party) and 1:00-4:00pm PST. But,
dancers show up at the place throughout the day and night. Sunday night seems to be slowest, with very little traffic. The club is newbie
friendly and Ms. Irie and her staff work hard to keep a tolerant, welcoming environment where everyone can relax, meet new people, and have a
great time
Conclusion: If you like reggae music, I highly recommend a visit to Irie Vibes.
