When you first come into Second Life (SL), everyone wants to know how to make money. This won't address the
entrepreneurial aspects that you might want to enter, but it will touch on the easiest ways to make money for new residents to SL.
Camping is the easiest way to make money while you're doing something else. A camp site is a chair or dance
pad or zone device or something that keeps track of the time you've accumulated and the L$ you've earned. There are almost as many variants
as there are places that pay you to camp. Camping boosts their rating in the SL searches and that's how they bring customers to their stores,
malls or clubs.
There are many, many groups that help you find camping spots. Some are free to join, some are private and
some have a fee associated to join. To find the groups, while in SL, go to Search, then the Groups tab, then enter CAMP and various
variations of it in the box and click the search button. Join several groups, weed out any that annoy.
Dancing at clubs can also be fairly easy to get into. It's usually required that you have been in SL for
some period of time, usually at least 30 days, sometimes 45 days or longer. Sometimes, these pole dancing positions are nude, sometimes not,
sometimes sex is expected to be involved, other times, not so be sure you know what you want and what's expected of you before you enter into
an agreement with a club as a dancer. By the way, many clubs hire men, too.
What is absolutely required is that you have premium skin, shape and hair, and if clothing is part of the
dance, that it be of high quality, too. If you're going to apply for a position in a club as a dancer, you will be asked for portraits, for
your profile to be completed, and for your image to be in your profile. So, you should WOW them by going there with 5 or 6 really spiffy
portraits (I'll write a blog about this pretty soon), and a complete profile including your best portrait.
Clubs and malls often are looking for managers and models. Most of those aren't great paying jobs and
require some pretty intensive hours from the person behind the avie (avatar). If you're interested in this, there are several management or
modeling schools worth looking into. Go to Search, then choose the All tab and type in "Management School" or "Modeling School".
