Review: If you are wanting to
learn how to build, then College of Second Knowledge is the place to go. They teach mostly basics, but sometimes they have a more advanced class
and you can learn some great techniques. Most of the time, supplies are free and classes usually last an hour. It's a good place to start out if
you are interested in the building side of SL.
Classes are usually held late afternoon/early evening SLT. All you need to do is go along
when a class is advertised and have your history window open. Class notes are supplied at the end of all classes.
To find out when classes are, you can either look up College of Second Knowledge in search
under groups and join, (it's free) they post notices with about 5 mins notice to a class, or go along to the SLURL provided here to look at the
notice board. Some of the instructors are members of other build groups and post in them too (Builders Exchange is one of those
groups).
The instructors are really friendly and helpful, so if you are new to building and get stuck, you only need to
ask for help. Instructions are pretty basic so they're easy to follow and it doesn't matter if you don't finish in class, as you can just
practice at home in your own time when you get the class notes.
I have taken loads of classes here and learned quite a few things that have surprised me, I
probably wouldn't be able to do some of the stuff I can do now if it wasn't for these classes. I have even managed to get my partner to come
along to the classes too and he used to hate building, saying he'd never be able to do it, now he has built a whole playground
set.
Conclusion: A really good way to learn the basics of building.
