Review: I love animals both in real life and Second Life. I
have been after a pretty bird to fly around my home for a while now. A lot of places have these well made humming birds that hover
round you so I finally decided to loosen the purse strings and go take a look.
Animania is on the same sim as Zooby’s, which I also reviewed a few months back. I love this sim, it’s a bit laggy, but the design is so lovely,
it’s like being in a jungle and finding a shop. There’s a poster near the entrance sign that offers a free ladybug if you join the Animania
update group, so I joined for the freebie then left (shame on me I know, but I don’t have the space for the groups). I am a sucker for ambient
sounds, and I love listening to the birds here, especially the ducks.
As you enter the Animania area, you will see hummingbirds flying around, butterflies sitting on rocks and ducks swimming in the pool. The vendors
are on the walls so I followed the signpost to find the hummingbirds.
I found there was a nice selection of them, different colours and different versions, they have attachments, basic ones that just fly and a
deluxe one that feeds from a flower (extra price) and has bird noises. I opted for the deluxe one and chose a pretty orange one, then a flower
for it to feed on. The bird was $425 and the flower was $75. (Not bad, the bird is menu scripted, you can set its sound on and off, decide if u
want it to feed on the flower or not and u can even decide the are it will fly in.
Some of the animals here are copiable and come with rezzers. There are bats, owls, seagulls, ducks, swans…. Among other items… (I wanted to get a
fairy, but they were over 1k, so I decided to leave that one). There is also an aquarium area behind the store and an area set up for free
updates on your purchases. Also some of the items are available on slx for a slightly higher price.
The animals are really well made here, I would recommend paying them a visit, it’s just like taking a walk through the jungle.. I wish they had
some nice parrots. Conclusion: Great place to get animals to
decorate your land and add a natural ambiance.
